To The Skyline Parents/Guardians A plan for effective and efficient traffic flow was a part of the initial Skyline design. We designed a parent loop to insure that our students did not have to walk into the traffic and also allow parents to make a safe entry and exit from the property. Recently, we are having more and more parents choosing to drop students off at the Main Office entrance thereby causing traffic backups in the staff and visitors parking lot. In the future, we are asking all parents to use the parent loop to drop off and pick up students. Your cooperation will help to insure the safety of all Skyline students. Sincerely Sulura W. Jackson, Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians, This month the Ann Arbor Public Schools is launching the first edition of the AAPSNews, a newsletter designed to offer information about our schools and showcase programs and activities throughout the district.
The first edition features information about the November 3rd millage election, school activities at Eberwhite and Carpenter elementary schools, a profile about occupational therapist Raleigh Sadlier, a feature about the Community High School newspaper staff and the week-long Huron-Pioneer rivalry that took on a "pink" hue this year to support breast cancer research.
Log into http://news.a2schools.org to see the inaugural edition. We welcome story ideas and information for publication. Please send suggestions to Casey Hans at hansc@aaps.k12.mi.us or call her at 734-994-2090 ext 51228. We also are asking your help in selecting a permanent name for this newsletter. Dear Parents/Guardians,
On Tuesday, November 3rd, our community has an opportunity to vote on a countywide millage to support our schools. State funding for public schools has been decreasing for years; Ann Arbor Public Schools faces a projected shortfall of $15 million in the 2010-2011 school year. This millage, a 2-mill increase, will benefit AAPS as well as the other nine public school districts in Washtenaw County.
To ensure community members understand the millage proposal, there will be a community presentation hosted by AAPS Superintendent Dr. Todd Roberts and Deputy Superintendent Robert Allen. Everyone is encouraged to attend:
Monday, October 19th, 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Pioneer High School's little theater.
If you have questions, please contact Claire Hogikyan at clairehogikyan@comcast.net or Amy Pachera at amypachera@gmail.com.

The student was transported to the hospital by ambulance and her mother is going to call and let us know how she is doing. Her Counselor, Mrs. McKinney-King is assisting the family.

Dear Skyline Parents and Guardians:
VERY IMPORTANT CALENDAR CHANGE
Unfortunately, our Professional Development Day in September falls on Count Day for the State of Michigan. To get an accurate count, it is imperative that all students are counted on that Wednesday. Because we must have school with students in attendance on September 30, 2009, our Professional Development Day has been changed to Wednesday, October 7, 2009.
I am also taking this opportunity to send you a copy of the finalized 2009-2010-school calendar for Skyline outlining all important dates for the school year. http://www.aaps.k12.mi.us/skyline.home/files/event_calendar_2009-10.pdf Please mark your calendars, changing the Professional Development Date from Wednesday, September 30, 2009 to Wednesday, October 7, 2009.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this date change may cause.
Sincerely,
Sulura W. Jackson Principal

Dear Skyline Parents and Guardians:
I am writing to update you on an incident that occurred at the bus stop on Hollywood and N. Maple on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. We have conducted a complete investigation into this matter, appropriate disciplinary measures have been taken and conflict resolution efforts have begun. We are cooperating with the Ann Arbor Police Department who are also investigating this incident as it continued into the neighborhood.
It is our goal to make sure that such isolated incidence of conflict among our students does not occur. We will continue to stress the importance of building relationships and respect for self and others, personal integrity and the value of diversity in our school community.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Sincerely,
Sulura W. Jackson Principal
